Dr. Cook is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, where he also serves as the Associate Department Head for Graduate Studies and the Director of the Bioengineered Organs Initiative.  Dr Cook has 25 years of experience in the design, development, and testing of therapies for lung injury and disease. His primary research area is the development of artificial lungs intended for permanent respiratory therapy. His research also focuses on pulmonary drug delivery using perfluorocarbon emulsions to treat chronic bacterial respiratory infections in the setting of chronic lung disease and alveolar regeneration during acute lung injury.
