Rachel Berger, MD, MPH

Professor, Department of Pediatrics / Director, Child Abuse Research
Dr. Berger is a professor in the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Pediatrics and Director of Child Abuse Research for the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research. Here clinical duties include serving as Chief of the Child Advocacy Center and Child Protection Team at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Berger underwent medical training at Columbia University Hospital and UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and is board certified in Child Abuse Pediatrics. Her translational research focuses on the development and validation of biomarkers, clinical protocols and electronic health record-based tools for screening children and young adults for neurotrauma stemming from abuse which has been funded by the National Institutes of Health.
